Japonisme pieces were popular with the supporters of the
Aesthetic Movement during late 19th Century. Japanese bronzes,
ivories and prints, purchased by RW Binns in Europe, inspired the
Worcester craftsmen who did not slavishly copy, but adapted ideas
for the English market. Minton also produced a series of vases
inspired by cloisonné ware and William Godwin designed furniture
influenced by Japanese pieces.
