Steinböck Austria Enamel Dish, c 1960 - the copper
enameled with a hand-painted street scene of fashionably attired
young women.
This is the best example of this whimsical enamelware I have seen
for sale.
Enamel Studio Steinböck was founded in the early 1950’s by
the student brothers Hannes & Haimo Steinböck from Carinthia,
Austria, who had both joined the Academy of Art in Vienna, Austria.
They produced various articles like jewelry, trays, vases and
special orders. After the retirement of the two seniors “Studio
Steinböck” was run for two years by their sons, Michael and Peter
Steinböck but then sold, closing completely in 1993.
